The district has experienced several data exposure incidents due to misconfigured permissions and weak access controls. Their IT team lacked familiarity with key Microsoft 365 security features, leaving gaps in Data Loss Prevention (DLP), sensitivity labeling, and privileged role management. Without structured guidance, efforts to secure the environment were inconsistent and reactive.
