The Problem 

The entertainment provider had hundreds of retail locations requiring network upgrades, yet its engineering team was relatively small compared to its vast infrastructure footprint. Every retail location’s business functions ran entirely off the company’s legacy infrastructure, with its switches, fiber optic cables, firewalls, and other equipment nearing the end-of-support phase. This increased the risk of cybersecurity attacks or operational disruptions due to solutions that could not receive product updates or troubleshooting support. These inefficiencies threatened the entertainment provider’s overall business operations, hindering long-term revenue generation. 

The BlueAlly Solution

Our engineering teams collaborated extensively with our client’s technical stakeholders to understand their distributed networking infrastructure, enabling us to tailor a solution to the entertainment provider’s unique business needs. We were also flexible with each retail location’s financial needs, as each site was paying for its network upgrade out of its individual budget, creating immense logistical challenges. Throughout this collaboration, BlueAlly leveraged its project management expertise to tackle the daunting task of finding and scheduling capable technicians in each market that could complete each retail location’s network upgrade efficiently. After we configured, staged, and updated the Operating System of each piece of equipment at our assembly center, we shipped the equipment to each retail location, where our technicians decommissioned the entertainment provider’s legacy equipment and installed the new networking components on site. 

The Results

We completed this substantial network upgrade within two years, empowering our client with robust infrastructure that streamlined business operations across over 600 retail locations. This network upgrade entailed integrating and configuring a unified threat management solution to improve the entertainment provider’s security posture, including intrusion detection mechanisms, malware prevention solutions, next-generation Fortinet firewalls, and more. On the hardware side, we completed extensive site surveys to ensure the seamless installation of Fortinet switches, high-capacity server racks, structured cabling systems, and other essential physical components.  

To improve network visibility, our engineering teams also deployed a cloud-based network management portal, providing the entertainment company’s engineers with a single source of truth to simplify and automate real-time network operations. BlueAlly provided our client with immense cost savings by reducing the project timeline by years, helping the entertainment company upgrade to a secure, agile network infrastructure that positioned it for long-term business growth and operational efficiency.
