The Client

Our client is a leading building materials supplier based in the United States, operating a substantial business footprint across numerous regions.

Growth brought new opportunities, but also new pressures, for a building materials supplier’s IT and security teams. As operations scaled across a distributed footprint, an on-premises directory and limited device visibility made it harder to securely support users, enforce policies, and stay ahead of growing cyber risk. The result was an environment that no longer aligned with the business’s pace, prompting the company to build a relationship with a trusted partner that could guide its cloud migration.

To conquer these complexities, the supplier partnered with us to modernize its IT environment by migrating identity and device management to the cloud. Within 3 months, our team provided insights that elevated its technological capabilities and strengthened its security posture, helping the organization’s teams trust in transformation and achieve continued business success.

The Problem

The company needed to modernize its IT environment by moving its on-premises directory to the cloud. These challenges were compounded by limited visibility, which made device onboarding difficult and hindered security policy enforcement across its distributed infrastructure. Due to cyber risk, our client needed to strengthen its security posture by enabling single sign-on (SSO) and conditional access for both on-premises and mobile users. Finally, the company strove to implement modern Microsoft technologies and improve the overall onboarding and management experience for new devices and employees.

The BlueAlly Solution

As an existing managed services customer, our client partnered with our professional services team to embark on its modernization journey. Over a three-month engagement, we worked closely with their IT and security stakeholders to migrate the directory to the cloud and fully enable Microsoft Intune and Autopilot.

The project included end-to-end configuration of Intune to meet the company’s specific requirements, iterative working sessions to review settings and security controls, and a structured path from testing to production. Intune was deployed to provide centralized device management across on-premises and mobile environments, while Autopilot was implemented to streamline the provisioning and onboarding of new devices. Throughout the migration, the client was highly engaged, collaborating on configuration decisions and gaining hands-on exposure to the new technologies, setting them up for long-term success beyond the project’s completion.

The Results

Through this collaboration, our teams helped the company strengthen its overall security posture and cloud-based identity management by empowering it with SSO and conditional access capabilities. We also helped our client centralize management by implementing a single-pane-of-glass platform, greatly enhancing visibility and control for on-premises and mobile devices.

Autopilot enabled quicker, more consistent onboarding, while Intune fostered modern device management. The engagement ensured the internal IT team was well-positioned to manage and expand the environment independently through ongoing collaboration and knowledge transfer. This project helped the company conquer complexity through a future-ready foundation aligned with current and evolving Microsoft technologies, positioning it for long-term scalability and business success.
